### Gerardo Garza ('18) Pinning Ceremony
Colonel Russ Malesky, USAF (Retired) had the experience of pinning Airman First Class Gerardo Garza’s wings at Lackland AFB on March 14th in San Antonio. Our WHHS 2018 graduate and previous JROTC Cadet completed the enlisted aircrew academics to be a C-130 Loadmaster and earned his wings; A1C Garza invited the Colonel down to pin him.
Gerado Garza had the highest academic average in his class and received the award for being the Distinguished Graduate with a 96+% average (pictured receiving the award from the class keynote speaker).
Gerardo is now in the toughest training of his life as he learns how to escape and evade in the mountains of Washington State followed by what he could endure as a Prisoner of War in that unique and specialized training. After that he will go to Little Rock AFB, AR for actual flight training in the C-130 aircraft before he comes home sometime next year to Fort Worth and the JRB to serve with the 136th Airlift Wing, Texas ANG--one of the most deployed C-130 reserve units in the USAF!
We could not be prouder of this young man!
