WHHS students are workforce ready!

Four of our Education and Training seniors, Bethany, Karma, Taina, and Karen were honored at the City of Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker's "Where Achievement Begins" celebration yesterday. Western Hills is so proud!

Career & Tech students had the great opportunity to travel to Tarrant County College for the Student Internship and Hiring fair! The fair had plenty of employers that brought opportunities for part-time jobs and internships!

TAFE is back and we did not return empty-handed! Our students did so well, they behaved exceptionally, were dressed professionally, and had the courage to present in front of judges!

We have 6 students who have proven they are the best in TEXAS and will spend a week this summer in Washington DC competing at the National level:

Sophia Castellanos
Smantha Chavez
Daisy Daniels
Taina Flores
Elaina Montalvo
Karen Silva

The following students placed at the gold level:

Daisy Daniels
Karma Henley

These students placed at the silver level:

Mikaela Alexander
Eva Solis

On Wednesday, Western Hills High School had a great visit from Mrs. Sandoval's News Crew 5th grade team at Luella Merret Elementary for the third year! During the visit, they had great exposure to CTE classes offered. Western Hills students led them in how to run the studio equipment that the high school video production classes use at the school. They also participated in other hands-on lessons about computer hardware repair and robotics from the computer maintenance class, drew designs from learning the elements and principles of design in the graphic design class, and started to learn Excel spreadsheet skills through a fun game of Battleship using Excel in the business class. It was a great opportunity to see the high school students become leaders during the sessions to show them what a future Cougar looks like!

Shout-outs to Mrs. Nicholson, Mr. Pennington and Coach Jackson on adding the additional breakout sessions with the studio segment. Thank you to Mrs. Flores and Mr. Hickox for arranging bus transportation!

AND a special shout out to Mrs. Webb, who graciously picked up our pizza for lunch!

In celebration of #CTEMonth, Career and Tech students had the opportunity to participate in mock interviews that the Go Center also helped host. Mock interviews are a valuable tool that can help prepare our Cougars for real job interviews and help them refine their interview skills!
