This past Friday and Saturday, the varsity boys track team competed in the Region I 4A/5A track and field championships in Lubbock, Texas. The highlight of the track meet was the 4 x 100m Relay Team of Javares Hamilton, Kemarrius Mayes, Camden Hawkins, and Aaron Martin going into the race as the 8th seed and finishing in 4th place.
Ma'Javion Washington took 8th place in the triple jump, setting a personal record of 43' 2".
Aaron Martin took 6th place in the 100m dash.
Each young man did an outstanding job of competing.

I wanted to give a shout out to Jason Green. In the Area 7-4A/8-4A Championships, Jason competed in five events, which is the maximum number of events an athlete can do in a track meet. He competed in the Long Jump - 6th place; Triple Jump - 4th place; 200m Dash - 4th place; and ran leg two in the 4 x 100m and 4 x 200m Relay. He will be competing in the Triple Jump, 200m Dash, 4 x 100m Relay, and 4 x 200m Relay at the Regional meet in Lubbock, Texas on April 29th and 30th.
The varsity boys track team competed in the Area 7-4A/8-4A Championships yesterday, battling for the opportunity to advance to the Regional meet in Lubbock, Texas next week. Caleb Clark got it started by getting 3rd place in the Discus, setting a personal record with a throw of 125' 4". Aaron Martin got 3rd place in the 100m Dash, setting a personal record and a new school record with a time of 10.89. Out of 13 teams competing in the Area 7-4A/8-4A Championships, the boys' team finished 3rd in the overall team standings, scoring 62 points. Caleb Clark, Ma'Javion Washington, Jason Green, Javares Hamilton, Camden Hawkins, Aaron Martin, Kemarrius Mayes, and Ajani Freeman will be going to Lubbock, TX to compete in the Regional Track Meet.

Wow! What an evening for the varsity boys track and field team on day two of the District 8-4A Track and Field Championships.
The evening started with the boys finishing in 1st place in the 4 x 100m Relay, running their fastest time of the year. Kemarrius Mayes took 3rd place in the 100m Dash, breaking the school record of 10.98, running a time of 10.97. Aaron Martin took 2nd place in the 100m dash, setting a new school record with a time of 10.94.
The boys track and field team finished in the team standings as District 8-4A Runner-Up, scoring 173 points.
None of this is possible without a great coaching staff. Thank you to Coach Pritchett, Coach Maehs, Coach Bush, and Coach Foster for a job well done.
Next up is the Area 7-4A/8-4A Track and Field Championships next Thursday April 21st at Clark Stadium.
