The tennis team advanced to the second round of regional tennis play and faced the defending state champs. They did a great job representing Western Hills High School.

These young ladies had a great spring season in which they finished as girls District Champions and advanced to the second round in Regionals. I am very proud of these young ladies.

On Thursday, April 13, your JV Tennis Team participated in the 5A/4A JV District Tournament. Though the matches did not go as we had hoped, your JV tennis cougars played hard and competed well against much stiffer 5A schools. The picture below is only of those who remained till the very end, but please congratulate all tennis players you know for their hard work this season. And, as always, thank you for the support and encouragement you’ve displayed towards us this year. We look forward to coming back next year even stronger and better!

The tennis team played great yesterday and won many Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

Alejandra Mares won Gold in Singles and is the District Champ.  Ximena Miranda and Jacqueline Mares won Gold in Doubles and are District Champs. Jaineel Patel won Silver in Singles play just short of a Gold. All these players will advance to regional play in Longview, Texas.

The following players won Bronze medals and were very close to advancing to Regionals: Orlando Renovato, Aryaman Patel, Elaina Montalvo and Madison Allen.

Your Cougar Tennis team began the day yesterday at the Springtown tournament with some tough (and unexpected) losses, but ended with some hard-fought victories. All of your tennis cougars played well and it was a good way to close out the regular spring season. Be sure to especially congratulate Alejandra Mares Martinez for winning silver in girls' singles, Aryaman Patel & Orlando Renovato for winning silver in boys' doubles, and Jose Mendieta for winning bronze in boys' singles.

Though they came up just shy of the medal podium, congratulations goes to the following:

Erik Serrato for just barely missing the bronze medal in boys singles; his match went into a tie-breaker.

Jesus Alvizo & Leslie Gutierrez just barely missed the bronze medal in mixed doubles in a match that closed out the entire tournament with a heartbreaking 5-7 score.

Leonel Munoz and Roberto Torres Rodriguez made it to a podium match in boys' doubles, just barely missing 3rd place.

Now our eyes are set on District next Tuesday, March 28.

Yesterday was a very tough tournament for our kids due to the very short notice and change in date from Thursday. The kids did a good job in their play against some of the best 6A and 5A teams. I am very proud of them because they rose up to their challenge. Roberto and Ximena won bronze medals. Thanks for always supporting the  team.
