2020 Softball
Your Lady Cougars faced a tough opponent last night losing 16-5 to Arlington Lamar. The score doesn’t show the improvements we have made since we played them Saturday. Offensively we had some great hits by Lauren Beckham, Lauren Hukill and Nela Sabas. Defensively we made some great plays, but had one rough inning and were not able to come back. Overall, I am proud of the improvements that were seen and know that we will keep getting better everyday!
The JV had their second game and lost 12-8. We have a lot of new players that have never played before. They are learning and improving every day.
The Lady Cougars participated in the Tri-Cities Tournament this past weekend. We were rained out on Thursday, but were able to get in games Friday and Saturday.
The girls were 1-2-1 for their games. Played a good game against Arlington Bowie, but fell short 7-8. Tied with Trimble Tech 8-8 on Friday. Saturday we started with a win against SW Christian 8-4 and took a loss to a very strong Arlington Lamar 13-0.
With all the weather challenges we have been facing, I am pleased with our overall performance. We are a young team and still have a lot to learn.
We face off against Arlington Lamar again on Tuesday at home. The JV starts at 6 with the Varsity starting at 7:30. Hope to see you there!!
The weather has been rough in us... Scrimmages cancelled.. practice cancelled... You would never know by the way the girls came out tonight! Got an early 5-0 lead against Southwest.. Let them sneak back in with 4 runs.. got 4 more for a comfortable lead and then unleashed in the top if the 7th. Final score was 19-5 with Grace Lindamood hitting one out to score our final runs. She was 4 for 6 and Jessica Alonzo was 1-2. Grace also pitched a great game striking out 11 batters giving up 5 hits. Lots of great baserunning and solid defensive plays. Proud of the girls!!
