Last night your Cougars traveled to Crowley to take on the Venus Bulldogs. Sadly, we would come up short due to some early game miscues.

I've been coaching this great sport for 10 years, and every year this is always the most bittersweet part of it. To say this team dealt with some adversity is an understatement. We took the punches as they came and always found a way to bounce back. We grew a lot this season. The one thing that will always be true is that these young women are strong!

I am very proud to say that I got to coach them. As a coach, we are supposed to teach them, but at the end of every season, I seem to learn more from them. Even though we might have fallen short yesterday, this team will be back. I want to give a shout-out to my amazing softball coaching staff, because without them putting in all the hours of hard work we would not be where we are today. So, thank you Coach Mo and Coach Sutton. Y'all are awesome!

I am excited about the future and even though the season just ended last night, we are already cooking big things for next year! January 10th can't come soon enough! Be on the lookout for an email that will have our all-district awards that should be coming out sometime next week.

After fighting with the weather all week, we finally got to take the field! The wait would be worth it as we would come away with the road win against Cater Riverside! Improving to 6-3 in the district!

The offense would be led by sophomore Taylor Torres going 3-3 with two inside the park home runs and racking up 10 RBIs!! Senior Aly Cortez would be close behind, going 4-5. It would be a team effort in the circle, with Junior Briana Moreno and sophomores Leslie Galaviz, and Audrina Zabala.

We have one more district game on Tuesday. We will travel down 377 to take on Benbrook Middle High School. The game time is set for 6:30 and should be a good one! If you are unable to make it, the game will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Your Cougars are headed to the playoffs! We are excited to say we are headed to the State Playoffs. We will be selling playoff shirts. We are just waiting for our quotes to come back, so we are not accepting payment at this time, but if you would like to send us your size, we will put you down. The design will be attached to this email! Once I get playoff information, I will send it out!

Your Cougars hosted the Diamond Hill Jarvis Eagles last night. In a hard-fought game, your Cougars would come away with the win!! It was senior night, so today, I want to honor the seniors we have! These young women have nothing but greatness in their futures!

Aly Cotez has been with the team for four years. Aly was one of the first girls I met when I got on campus. This is her softball program as much as it is ours. She might be quiet in class, but when she gets out in between those lines she shines and is in her element. She is a leader on the field and has been a huge part of our success this season.

Esme Estrada has been part of the team for 3 years. Esme embodies being a team player; she has stepped up all year for us. Whatever the team needed, she would step up to do it. She always puts the team first and has really started to find her groove.

Jocelyne "Pickle" Ruvalcaba, has a part of the team for 2 years. She has a smile that lights up the room. I'm pretty sure she has never met a stranger in her life. She has this energy that she brings to the field that has helped us all season long.

Ja'Liya James, joined the team this year. Though this might be her first-time playing softball, she brought her talents to the diamond and has been able to find success. She is not only a great athlete, but also a fantastic young business owner.

India Rodriguez also joined the team this year as a student trainer. A student trainer is no joke and India helped us out all season long. She is a huge part of helping keep our stress levels down, and we are so thankful for everything she does for the program.

Gabi Theas joined the team this year and helps keep everything together. It is a huge part of our manager's roles and Gabi does a great job of it. Though she might keep to herself in class, once she gets out of her shell, she is full of life.

These seniors have made a huge impact on this program, but the work is not done yet. We have 3 big games coming up to end the district strong and set ourselves up even better in the playoffs! We play at Dunbar on Friday at 6:30. If you are unable to make it, we livestream all of our games on Facebook and YouTube! Links will be below!

Thank you for all you do!

Last week your Cougars hosted the Dunbar Wildcats. Dunbar would jump ahead with an early two-run lead, they would add to it in the 2nd with 5 more runs. We would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. We would hold the Wildcats scoreless in the top of the 3rd, and we would answer with 9-runs in the bottom! Once we had the lead, we would not lose it! We went on to win 19-15! Senior Aly Cortez would lead at the plate, going 3-4! Followed by sophomores Sophia Castellanos, and Taylor Torres, both going 2-4!

With a quick turnaround, we then traveled to Diamond Hill. Your Cougars would start off strong, scoring 11 in the 1st and never looked back; scoring in every inning but the 5th. We won 21-11 and secured our 3rd district win!  Junior Briana Moreno would lead the offense, followed by Senior Jocelyne "Pickle" Ruvalcaba, and Sophomores, Leslie Galaviz, Sophia Castellanos, and Taylor Torres

We will be back in action this week with both of our games being at home! We will host Carter-Riverside on Tuesday 3/19, and Benbrook Middle-High School on 3/22.

For our game tomorrow, we have partnered with the NFCA to host our first ever Strikeout Cancer Night, and we would like to invite anyone who is fighting, fought, and/or beaten Cancer to please come down to be recognized!  We will have signs that you will be able to fill out for those we are fighting for!

If you are unable to make it, we will have both of the games livestreamed on Facebook
