Please congratulate your 4A Region 2 Golf qualifiers when you see them. They all did an outstanding job of representing Western Hills High School.
John Bolyard - Improved on Day two by taking just 1 stroke off of his game. However, he shot the best two rounds of his season.
Sydnee leonard and Jordan Douglas-Jones both took 7 strokes off of their day one performance. More importantly they showed some outstanding tenacity and patience during our two very long days.
On day 1, the rain pushed our start back about 2 hours. The girls teed off at around 11 am. At about noon, it started raining and did not stop raining throughout their day. We were able to complete Hole #14 before the lightning started and ended our day. This was around 6:30 pm. This was almost an 8 hour day of golf much of which was spent in the pouring rain and we didn't even get to finish the round. We went back to the hotel and had to throw clothes and shoes into the dryer. It was a very long day!!!
On day 2 - because we must finish the 18 holes, our group along with about 7 other groupings had to be back in place ready to golf at 7:30 am. The girls finished their remaining four holes and then got some rest in the car before teeing off around 11:30 for their second round of 18. What a difference a day makes! By the time the girls teed off, the sun was out and it had warmed up nicely but the course was still plenty wet. The girls both finished day two 7 strokes ahead of their day 1 performance. If you have ever played golf, you know that sometimes you rely on the ball rolling in the grass after your hit. Let me tell you, with 2 1/2 inches of rain, there is no roll. I am very proud of these two girls for fighting through the weather and finishing their 36 Holes of golf at the Regional golf tournament.
AS ALWAYS......................GO COUGARS!!!!!!
John Bolyard shot some of his best golf of the season on Monday and then came back and improved that performance by one stroke on Tuesday. There was some very good competition here in Canton for the boys side and John represented Western Hills Well!
Sydnee Leonard and Jordan Douglas Jones arrived today, thanks to a Coach Maehs, and finished their practice round. We are hoping the rain will hold off until we can get our 36 holes in over the next two days. I will update their performance on Friday.
Both the boys and girls finished in 3rd place at the District 9-4A district golf meet. John Bolyard, Sydnee Leonard, and Jordan Douglas Jones will be advancing to the regional competition on April 22-25.

After day one at the district golf tournament, both teams are currently in third place. The girls are about 25 strokes down on Kennedale and need a good showing in Day 2 to place second. Jordan Douglas Jones has the best score of the day for the ladies followed closely by Sydnee Leonard.
The boys are now fighting for the medalist spot. John Bolyard is 4 strokes up as the top medalist and Josh Reyes is just one stroke down. Both boys will need to play better tomorrow to secure their trip to regionals. Our other boys are still in the mix, but will need a good showing in day 2!
