Fort Worth ISD will launch a girls varsity flag football league this spring with help from the Dallas Cowboys.
The district will become one of the only public school systems in Texas to offer such a program, which is expected to start in March.
On Saturday, February 5th, a few of our girls weathered the cold and went to participate in the FWISD Cowboys Jamboree at AT&T Stadium. They had a great time and learned a few things about football. This was a great start to our season.
Last Friday your flag Football team went across the bridge to battle Benbrook and came out with the victory.
Arie Christon played a great game with an interception, and she controlled the offense like a pro. AnJell Smith also had an interception and was a big target for Arie during the game. Gaby Huckleberry was also a force on the offensive side. Iyanu McNatt had a great game on the defensive side of the ball as well.
The young ladies have come a long way this season and I am so proud of what they have accomplished. This Friday will be our last game of the season against Paschal, and it will also be our senior night, so come out and support these ladies one last time.
Your Lady Cougars Flag football team won 46-12 against the team from YWLA. The team was led by Arie Christion with five total touchdowns. She had three rushing and two passing. Kyra Kay caught both of her throws to take them into the endzone. Iyanu McNatt had a rushing touchdown and a ton of flag pulls. AnJell Smith caught an interception and took it to the house. Also, London Shannon and Gabriela Cuevas had interceptions on the night to help secure the victory.
Last night was a great start in history for FWISD and WHHS. The Lady Cougars Flag Football team began their season against Arlington Heights, and it was a great night. It started off rough because the girls really didn't know what to expect, but once they caught on there was no stopping them. They could have put their heads down and gave up, but they overcame adversity and kicked it into another gear and didn't let Heights score another touchdown. There's a few things I learned last night, and one is that these girls are very tough.
