Last night, the Boys basketball team faced Alvarado in the Bi-District round of the UIL playoffs.  It was a great game that went down to the wire, but we fell just short by a final score of 51-45.

Senior Malik-El Amin left it all on the floor in his final game, leading both teams in scoring with 19 points.  As a whole, our team played very well, and I was so proud of how they showed up when it mattered most.  We faced a lot of adversity this season, but our boys bought into our mantra of "Find a way and not an Excuse" to exceed expectations and make it as far as they did.

Thank you for all the support you showed us this season and last night at Centennial High School.  Go Cougars!

Your JV Boys Basketball team traveled to YMLA for their final game of the season. It was a hard-fought, physical game that, unfortunately, the boys came up short, losing 57-49. Tristen Foster did everything he could to keep us in the game, scoring 16 points.  Other scoring;

PK Shephard – 9 pts
Grayson Ehirim – 9 pts
Lennox Stcyre – 8 pts
Jamarion Armstead – 4 pts
Jo’Monta Harper – 3 pts

For the season, the boys finished 12-10 overall, 5-6 in district play.  I’m very proud of how these boys played all season long with some very exciting games.  For my 1st time coaching basketball in about 30 years, they renewed some of my love of the game and I thank them for that.

Last night, the varsity boys' basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 53-34 road victory over YMLA.

Jaylen James -12 points
Stephun Williams -12 points
Stefon Holman - 11 points
Malik El-Amin - 10 points
Corey Williams - 4 points
Robert Jones - 4 points

With the regular season concluded, we tied for 3rd in the district (7-5) with cross-town rival, Benbrook Middle-High. We will play them for a third time this Friday, 2/16 at Wilkerson Greines to determine the third seed. Tip-off is at 7:00 pm.

Your JV Boys Basketball Team took on the Eagles of Diamond Hill-Jarvis on Friday night and came away with a hard fought 63-42 win.  After another sluggish start, the boys turned on the pressure with a full-court press, got physical under the boards against DHJ’s huge center and scored on a slew of turnovers.  Your Cougars ran their season record to 12-9 and evened their district record at 5-5 with one game remaining.

Pat “PK” Shephard led all scorers with 17 points, while Tristen Foster and Grayson Ehirim hit a couple of key 3-pointers, rounding out the scoring as follows:

Pat Shephard – 17 pts
Tristen Foster – 12 pts
Grayson Ehirim – 12 pts
Jamarion Armstead – 8 pts
Jo’Monta Harper – 6 pts
Trenell Patterson – 4 pts
Lennox Stcyre – 2 pts
Blake Davis – 2 pts

The Cougar JV wrap up their season on Tuesday night at YMLA.  Freshmen play at 5:00, JV 6:15 and a key Varsity match-up at 7:30.  Come on out and cheer these guys on.

The Varsity Cougar Basketball Team got a 55-41 win over Diamond Hill on Senior night!

The Cougars double their wins from last season and clinch a playoff spot! Seeding is still TBD with one game left on Tuesday. Playoff shirt details will be sent out on Monday. Have a great weekend. Go Cougars!

Your JV Boys played 2 games this past week against strong opponents, Dunbar on Wednesday and Eastern Hills on Saturday.  Although we beat Dunbar at home the first time around, they were a much tougher match-up on their home court, resulting in a loss.  On Saturday against a better Hilltopper squad, we hung tough for the 1st half and then Eastern Hills pulled away for the win.  The 2 losses dropped the JV to 4-5 in district play, 11-8 overall.

After a bye on Tuesday, the boys are back in action on Friday at home against Diamond Hill.  JV plays at 6:00 and varsity follows with Senior Night.  We would love to see you out there to watch the varsity clinch a playoff berth.
