Thank you to everyone on this campus that has mentored, taught, and guided this young man over the last 4 years.

Being named 1st team Academic All-State is a huge honor and it wouldn't of been possible without such a great staff at Western Hills.

Congratulations, Reagan Smith.

Reagan Smith

I would like to thank everyone that supported the baseball team this past week in the playoffs either by wishing the boys good luck in the hall, purchasing a playoff shirt, attending the playoff game or a combination of all 3.

Our season came to an end Friday night against a solid Decatur team, our boys played hard and competed getting compliments from the umpires and the opposing coaching staff about how our guys play the game.

The first game of the season 7 of our 9 starters had never played in a varsity ballgame and the majority hadn't played baseball in several years. The growth they made this season was great to watch and it wouldn't have been possible without the support virtually and in person you gave them throughout this entire crazy school year.

Your Cougars went 3-0 on the week to finish district play in a 3 way tie for 2nd place.

Monday night Reagan Smith turned another masterful performance on the mound going the distance striking out 14 Carter Riverside batters en route to a 2-0 Cougar victory.

Monday night was intense and ultimately a fun thrill ride, but Tuesday night was the sudden blind drop you didn't see coming, it makes your stomach hurt, but you weather it and talk yourself into that it was fun because you chose to go on the ride.

Edwin Loya took the mound battling illness against the scrappy Eastern Hills Highlanders. With a 6-3 lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning the Cougars and relief pitcher Nomar Marzan held on for a 6-5 victory leaving the winning run stranded at 2nd base.

Friday night's district finale was rained out and was made up yesterday afternoon at Arlington Heights HS. The Cougars took the suspense out of the game early recording a season high in hits and only allowing 1 Highlander hit recording the 15-0 win.

With the victory on Saturday, the Cougars finish district play in a 3-way tie for 2nd place with Carter Riverside and Diamond Hill.

Seeding games were scheduled for Monday, April 3rd. However, due to severe weather, we had to settle for a coin toss.  We won the first flip and lost the 2nd.

"I get knocked down, but I get up again" last Friday Diamond Hill knocked us down but we got back into the win column last night Defeating the Dunbar Wildcats 16-0.

"Another one bites the dust" as Reagan Smith recorded his 200th career strikeout on the 1st batter of the game.

"Rising up to the challenge of our rival" Reagan went 15 up 15 down with 13 Ks on the night completing the perfect game and I said, "Do you feel alright?" and he said "yes, I feel wonderful tonight."

"These boots are made for walkin" as the Cougars unofficially*** (with zero research) set the Cougar baseball record with 17 walks in a ballgame last night and they were driven in by 2 hits a piece by Nomar Marzan, Alex Rivas and Edwin Loya who reached base 5 times.

"It's 7 o clock on the dot I'm in my drop top cruisin the streets" if that's the case you will be late to tomorrow night's game! First pitch has been bumped up to 6:30 PM @ Tower Field.

"Welcome to my house, play that music too loud" come out tomorrow night and get your 3 day weekend started off right!

A baseball team consists of 9 positions and none of those positions are class clown, lazy larry, sassy sam, whiney walter or rip van winkle.
