Dr. Terry Drennen
CLASS OF 1971
When Western Hills first opened its doors in 1968, Terry was a part of the very first sophomore class. Over the next three years, he was a four-sport letterman in football, basketball, baseball and track.
Drennan quarterbacked the Cougars to a bi-district championship in 1969 and a district championship in 1970. In his junior and senior seasons, he was selected to the All-Tarrant County team. Terry was also selected as the recipient of the Optimist Club SSA Award as the outstanding high school senior scholar athlete for Tarrant County in 1970-1971.
Following graduation, Terry played football at TCU. Playing both defensive back and quarterback, he was selected to the 1971 Freshman All-SWC team and was awarded the National Football Foundation Scholarship Award as an outstanding freshman student collegiate athlete in North Texas.
Drennan went on to excel on the football field and in the classroom for the Horned Frogs. He received the Dan Rogers Award as TCU’s most valuable player in 1974 and was named first team Academic All-SWC and first team Academic All-America as a defensive back in 1974. He was the 1974 nominee from TCU for the Kern Tips Award recognizing the top senior football student athlete in the SWC.
At the end of his senior season, Terry was one of only 33 athletes to receive an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship for leadership, academic and athletic achievement. He used the scholarship to help him attend dental school.
Terry has enjoyed his dentistry practice since 1979 and values the educational opportunities every day provided for him by his efforts as a student athlete.

Shelby Grissett
CLASS OF 2009
While at Western Hills, Shelby participated in soccer and cross-country, and was a standout athlete in both. She was a four-year varsity athlete in cross country and soccer, as well as captain for both teams starting her sophomore year.
In cross-country, Shelby went to the regional meet all four years. In soccer, she was All District MVP, All District Offensive MVP, and First Team All District.
Shelby went on to play college soccer at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX for one year, earning a spot on the All Tournament Team at the Southland Conference Tournament, and broke the school record for fastest hat trick. After a series of head injuries, she decided to end her soccer career early, and transferred to the University of North Texas in Denton to pursue a degree in Biology.
Shelby returned to Western Hills in 2014 as a teacher, and currently teaches science and coaches soccer and volleyball.

Madison Yeager
CLASS OF 2017
While at Western Hills, Madison played varsity volleyball for three seasons, graduating a year early to accept a scholarship offer from Texas Wesleyan. She served as a varsity captain all three seasons and, as a freshman, led her team to a district title as a setter and outside hitter.
At the end of her freshman season, Madison was voted District 7-5A Setter of the year and received First Team All-District honors. At the end of her sophomore season, Madison was again named District 7-5A Setter of the year, received First Team All-District honors, and was named team MVP by her peers. Upon completion of her junior and final season, Madison was selected District 7-5A Player of the Year, earned First Team All-District honors, and was again selected by her peers as team MVP. Madison was also selected to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram All-Area Team.
Madison graduated from the University of Texas Arlington with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and is pursuing a career in law enforcement.

Bailee Wortham
CLASS OF 2012
While at Western Hills, Bailee played varsity softball between 2009 and 2012 and was District MVP every year. She was also Pitcher of the Year in 2010, and All-State in 2012.
Over the course of her career, she pitched every inning of every game, winning 107 games while at Western Hills. Her district record was 51 wins and 1 loss. On April 10th, 2012 she won her 100th game and recorded her 1000th strikeout.
Bailee went on to play collegiately at Weatherford College, helping them advance to the Junior College National Championships. Bailee then went on to finish her degree and playing days at Texas Women’s University. Bailee currently teachers first grade at Benbrook Elementary.

Coach Mickey Yeager
COACH 2004-PRESENT
Coach Yeager began coaching and teaching at Western Hills in 2004. He has coached volleyball for nineteen seasons, serving as head coach for ten of those seasons. He also served as an assistant soccer coach for four seasons.
Coach Yeager led his team to a district title in his first season as head coach. At the conclusion of the season, he was named the District 7-5A Coach of the year. In his nineteen seasons as a volleyball coach at Western Hills, Coach Yeager has never posted a losing record. His varsity teams have made the state playoffs nine out of ten seasons, and his sub-varsity teams have won numerous district titles. Coach Yeager also led his team to a Bi-District title in 2019. Coach Yeager reached the one-hundred-win plateau in just three seasons, and he is the school’s all-time winningest volleyball coach.

2001 State Baseball Champions
UIL CLASS 4A
The 2001 State Championship Team made their way through the playoff bracket with a 7-5 record, knocking off Comal Smithson Valley in the semi-finals and then beat Carthage in the state finals to win the championship. The entire city enjoyed watching them chase their championship. The team was made up of the following players and coaches:
